Thanks everyone for the great ideas posted in here. Guess I need to get some fertilizer to add to my grass clippings. I tried something different. I had a small pile of dirt that was overgrown with grass. I got most of the dirt out, broke the grass clumps up and threw some clipping on top. Wet it down and covered with some of that black matting to keep it from growing again. Wet it down and put a piece of black plastic over it all. Don't know what will happen, kind of a test to see how that works.

I have yet to build a Compost Heap. Accumulating enough grass clippings to mulch the berries and garden have taken all the clippings I have collected this summer. I do have a pile about 4 ft high and 4 ft across on the edge of the strawberry patch to mulch the berries when I put them to bed for the winter. All table scraps have been thrown out in the garden after I dug the potatoes and tilled in.
A Heap has been on the docket all year, just have not gotten to it yet?
