Ok guys, My 66 suburban 12 has been doing this for a long time. It smokes like crazy at idle but once you throttle it up and put a load on it is stops smoking. The rings in it are fine. Any ideas?

in a car engine i would suspect valve guide seals . high vaccum at idle pulls in the oil past the guides, throttle up and the vaccum drops to very low levels and what little oil does pull through burns easily with little to no smoke. add in the model of motor so the guys know what you are dealing with.
