When I first started in the electronics store I work for, they were still making "HeathKits". You could buy Radios, TV's, etc in a complete kit, all parts in a box & directions, all you needed was a soldering iron & some basic tools.

I bought a MF12G the other day that seems to be in the same condition. It seems that if there was a fastener, the PPO took it off. I actually bought it from a friend who had picked it up at an auction. I think it was more project than he was looking for,and it really wasn't gonna suit his needs, so I was able to buy it from him.

I wish I had remembered to take a pic of the engine before I put on the head, CDI, generator, Flywheel, starter, Carb, etc. (It'll all come back off, the used head gasket probably wont seal up, just using it for a test run and the carb etc needs a cleaning). The engine does run and sounds throaty. Little smoke, but it's been sitting for a while, gonna try to free the rings up by soaking.

Anyways, here's my "exoskeleton" (as Ryan calls it)

The engine just after she ran for a couple seconds before I put the carb back together & on.

and a couple of Mystery pieces that were tied together in the box-o-parts. One is a switch with an actuator handle? Any ideas?

Looks like a challenge. I'm sure those in the know will me along to help you get the puzzle back together. A parts manual would be a good place to start. Maybe you can identify some of those mystery parts that way. Good luck!

Looks to be all there, and not all dented, or smashed. Looks like a project.
You have the gas tank?
Those mystery parts don't look like anything that belong on that 12.
Maybe that switch does, but I can't think of where. Wasn't on mine.

Thanks!
Must've been a "Won't start if the deck, tiller, etc. is engaged" switch.

I was there the day he bought this erector set LOL! (I might even have had a hand in a bit of coercion in the purchase {insert evil laugh here}) I think it's a really great project tractor! The sheet metal is in great shape and if nothing else, there are a lot of excellent parts there for another project tractor! It's awesome that the engine runs! It was literally in a box when he got it! IMHO that was a great score! Congrats my friend!

Now, we are learning the 'rest of the story'. I think it will be a great tractor, once everything is back where it belongs.

MIGHT have had a hand? That hand was twisting my arm. :rofl2:

My arm was in a sling for 2 weeks... My backside will be in one for longer when she counts noses out there again...

I think this will be a donor for a couple of the others. The tranny feels great and the nose is the best I have for the 12 H. The grill is very straight. It's a darn shame to take this apart further, but it has all the parts I need for other projects... I may also have a lead on a 12G that is an older restoration. Just the tractor, no deck or attachments.
