As you guys know I bought another EK10 at the PA auction on Saturday.
It's in good condition with all original paint on it.
Over the past couple evenings I tinkered with it and replaced the broken pivot point. I'm starting to think that this pivot yoke was the weak point in these tractors as the spare I had was also starting to crack, so I welded it up.

The engine was stuck so I took the head off and poured some oil down the cylinder wall and slowly began to break it free.

I put the head back on and cleaned the points and checked for spark, sure enough I had a nice blue spark :D
I put some gas in the tank and turned it over and off it went :dancingbanana:
It was smoking like a train though. I figured since I had good compression, the oil ring was probably stuck so I tried some marvel mystery oil. I let it sit overnight and today I gave it another go and the smoking almost completely stopped. It only smokes on start up now. and once it warms up it dosent smoke at all.
I even had time to put the deck on from my other EK today and try it out :D

Brian, that's great news! Does it run better without the smoking?

Where did you put the MMO? In the top or the oil?

I let it sit in the cylinder over night. Then ran some in the oil today

I was never a believer of these motor treatments that supposedly stopped an engine from smoking, but after this I have changed my mind

I'll probably put new rings in it anyway, but that wont happen this year

Hmm....stops smoking huh! So if I drink some of the stuff I'll quit smoking too? Yep, likely would, but I wouldn't ever do anything else either! Never tried it, but maybe I should next time I have the need.

Happy to hear you have it going. It's good to have spare parts around. Sometimes, those additives work like they are supposed to. I think you found one of those times. Enjoy your new tractor.
