master link on chain broke

so i inquired about a craigslist add. its a gravely with bush hog finish mower snow blower plow and steerable sulky for 275. the guy said the master link on the chain for the starter broke. and before i dump 275 into something id like to know, is it worth it? the bush hog doesnt work but everything else does, he says the unit is fairly clean. and whats a maste rlink on c chain?

If it's a Bush Hog "brand" finish mower, that's probably worth something itself!

snow blower plow and steerable sulky for 275...


A functional snow blower is worth at least $100, and most of the sulky's that I've seen sell for about the same.

The master link is the one that allows a chain to be disassembled and re-assembled. Here are some pics:

The first pic is a chain with the link on the end, the second is an exploded view of the link itself, and the third is the link assembled without the chain.

The numbers that I gave you above aren't set in stone, but those aren't counting the tractor either. Best of luck J!

I think it would be worth the asking price. Master links are cheap but I would probably put a new chain on it anyway and chains are cheap too. Also make sure the sprockets are lined up when you put the chain back on.
