I know what you mean, it's a PITA, you do what your suppose to, buy what they tell you and when you complain it doesn't work it's always something else.

To be honest,Dell is the word I was thinking. I know Apple is good too,Not knowing a lot about computers,I find it hard to pick a brand. I do know that this time,it is not going the be a lap top,I want a desk top with a larger screen.

I know many people who have had a LOT of trouble with Dell computers. Myself, I don't see much difference. I have HP, and it's a few years old with only a hard drive that started top crash, so I replaced before it completely died. Cleaning the insides helps a lot. Overheating is your worst enemy besides viruses, worms, and the like.
My problem right now is my around 10yrs+ old. Going to replace it asap.

Ok,I have a lap top,and when I close the cover down, it goes into sleep mode . Well yesterday the mouse/curser kept "freezing up",and then last evening I came in to check on things ,and when I opened the lid,....nothing. I could not get it out of what appeared to be sleep mode. the screen was black, and I could not get it to do anything. It did come on this morning when I tried it.
Now this computer is 6 years old, although I did not take it out of the box for 2 and a half years. It is most likely time to get a new one.

Apple

I second that hydriv. We have a PC and a Mac Mini. The mini is 100% reliable and never freezes or needs rebooting. A little more expensive up front but less trouble IME.
