Smoked like crazy and always fouled the plug on that side.
Is the cylinder walls lightly scored on that side?If so it's a dead giveaway that the rings are stuck.
The more you run it the worse it will get.As Burnt oil deposits will crystallize over time and score the living heck out of the cylinder walls.

All you really need would be an Oil Sump gasket and 2 sets of rings if the cylinder bore is within wear tolerances.

and i need a piston, a PO decided to beat the crap out of the one piston to unseize the engine, and he used a hammer and a screw driver. and by some stupid chance thats the side that doesnt burn a lick of oil....
Isn't that always the way that it goes LOL. One of my favorite (and crappiest looking, beat up, rusty...) tractors just so happens to be the one that runs the best! Never fails to start when I turn the key! The wiring is atrocious with taped connections and butt splices everywhere.
