so i seen a cub on craigslist for 125 bucks. i offered 75 bucks. went and got it, obviously, who wouldnt? it has high low range factor lights hydro lift and it looks like some kind of lift on the back. i tried to start it, the belt was so tight on the starter gen it could barely move. so i figure sometime tomorrow i might get it running. think i got a good deal on her?

I think you got a great deal, but won't be sure until we see pics.

You may want to roll the engine over without the belt on it just to see if something is binding.

Great score. Is the battery charged good? How about grounds, are they clean? Does the motor turn over okay by hand? Try turning starter over without the belt. Starter may need new brushes & bushings. If you have a voltmeter, hook to battery while trying to start. May be a weak cell in battery.

the starter without a belt just makes this whining noise and does nothing. thats jumping the starter directly. im sure you all know what i mean. hopefully.

i can turn the engine over by hand, but it tough because i got the hydraulic pump hooked up to it too.

That IS the Cub Cadet lift. The IH attachments simply slide into that hole & away you go! You could go to jail for this deal!

and this tractor was used as a four wheeler for the last year before it was parked too. the guy thought he had a wheeler when he had a small farm tractor in reality.

That's not a knob,it's a Breather for the Hi/Lo Gear box.
Headlight switch should be Up under the dash on the left side of the dash tower when your sitting on the seat.

Well if you part it out,the Hydro Lift pump with cylinder,Headlight panel with switch,Sleeve hitch and Creeper gear will get you around $500 give or take a few bucks. The rest of the tractor with deck should sell for $200-300 if you can make it run.
