Am about ready to try and mount my 48" deck on the 1650 and was looking at the mule belt and I've found a ??

 

When I got the tractor the deck was off and leaning against the barn (catching lots of water!!) with a new looking belt draped over it that had obviously been cut, cleanly. So I measure it and its 95" (and yes I have gone back and re-confirmed it several times), but checking the parts # it comes up as being 96" So, before I drop $ on one or the other can someone confirm which it is -- 1/2x95 or 1/2x96?? My belt is even a Snapper belt with clear #s 1-9581 on it that also comes up as 96! - but measures at 95...

Are you measuring the inside or outside of the belt?  If it would go on OK I would use the shorter one as belts will stretch.

Since the belt is cut I cant put it on, but it makes measuring easy, lay it on the floor and lay the tape beside it - measuring the outside I get the 95"  I am not at all familiar with this 1650 or its deck, so I dont know how much the mule will give in adjustment? quite a bit, or not so much?

Looks like Massey part # 3021192M1. It crosses over to Stens part # 248-096 and their description is 1/2”x 96”. Double check me though, I don’t want to steer you wrong.

try running a line/rope around the pulleys and that may answer the length

OK, this post does need a 'follow-up'

 

I went ahead and got a 96" belt as shown in the parts manual  --- well, it went on easily and let me easily run the mule adj out to max, and the belt seemed to not be tight enough. I mowed for maybe half hour and on rechecking the belt it was obviously much to loose and knowing that with a bit more using it would start to slip. So, I got a 95" and installed it --- MUCH better!
