I recently adopted what I think is a 1250 (it is a large frame anyhow) and it has a TRA-10D with it instead of the right engine. Other than being a bit weaker, will that be ok?
Hi there, everyone will get to you soon... I believe in the bolens 1250 they had a 12.5 horse Wisconsin? So the tra 10d will be underpowered yes,but will/should work my 1053 has been modded with a 2cv engine now, feisty wee thing it is..

The S-12D engine that came in the 1250 was a much bigger engine and has a lot more torque. You really should try to find an S-12D or S-14D engine for it. I have never found a spare S-12 but have found two S-14Ds on CL for $100 each. They were supposed to be running. Both were from old mortar mixers. Look around. I agree that the TRA-10D will be over worked in the 1250. Good Luck, Rick

The TRA 10D is closer to 8 1/2hp, and is not a true 10hp engine. No, not a good engine substitute on the 1250.

That was the TR-10D, the TRA was the replacement that was actually 10 hp. I'm not worried about power, its just for a loader. I was thinking more like "wrong shaft diameter" or "its half an inch shorter so the PTO pully won't line up" kind of stuff.
Oh, I flipped it in my head then. Happens way too often anymore!

I do not recommend that "conversion"
It is way under powered and would suspect engine damage over time , thats alot to ask for a Hydro and large frame unit
The person, said he had already purchased the 125” with the tra 10 in it
