The model # is 031221. I looked for info. on the engine but didn't see any. Everything you mentioned is all yellow. I had a heck of a time getting the oil bath apart but I finally won. I thought I would try to find a foam filter to fit. Found a Simplicity dealer about ten miles away from me. The parts person had to go get the "old man" to help me with my questions. Got a chuckle out of that one.

That number sounds like the serial number. I suspect its an early B-10 with a late B-10 hood on it. The bevel gearbox and transmission were black on a late B-10. The steering gears were also different. Do your steering gears have a grease fitting visible? If so its probably an early B-10.

Yes, the steering gears have grease fittings on the underside.

Then it was probably an early B-10 (9hp model). The comparable Simplicity tractor is a 9hp Landlord, (the first model of Landlord made) and the MFR# is 990314. With that number you can get a parts/operators manual from the Simplicity website. www.simplicitymfg.com

Thanks for the information. That is going to help a bunch. Front axle bushings will be the first thing I replace. Not too much else is needed besides a seat. The biggest issue with the engine. It smokes throughout the whole RPM range. Runs great though. I might pull it this weekend. Supposed to snow anyway. Thanks again.
