Just when I think I am on the right track, along comes this.

According to the MW catalog images and descriptions, the Hoe-trac Standard, was based on the Simplicity L line, but this is an F series. The Hoe-trac Deluxe, was a Midland based tractor. The chase continues.....

The model # on that plate appears to start with "SIM" which means that it is a Simplicity. Have you thoroughly gone through our Manuals Section? You need to look through "Simplicity", "MW", Walkbehinds, and Miscellaneous. Good Luck, Rick

Garry, It's not my photo, it's one I found online. I can't make out the numbers either.

It doesn't seem to match anything I have, nor what you had put together earlier, on the yahoo groups.

boyscout862. I know it's a Simplicity based model, from the F tractor line, however, as I stated, nothing matches in the information I have. That said, I do not have a copy of the MW catalog from 1957. There is no mention of a Hoe-trac available in 1958, so this one may be a 1957.

karel. Thanks, but this isn't a Midland based tractor, and I don't have it personally, I'm just being nit picky, and trying to document Simplicity/Wards/Midland walkbehinds, because that's what most of mine are. I've nothing to gain, except some brain exercise. 8).
