Lifting a deck is usually easy. It is other attachments that get harder. Fortunately, Simplicity has a very clever assist for the lift. If you put a "stinger" weight in the rear lift adapter, it will make the deck easier to lift. If you need more help, add a donut weight to the stinger. If you need more help, add another donut. The weights in the rear lift help with lifting attachents under the tractor and on the front of the tractor. Check out the manuals in our Manuals Section(three free downloads per day. You can improvise the rear weights with a 12" - 16"  bar and and some gym weights. Good Luck, Rick

The deck is the easiest to lift. Adding weight to the rear lift will just make it harder to lift.

To answer the original question, I never get less than 500# actuators, the cost isn’t that much different from 500-1000, as long as you use stops there’s no such thing as too much, then if you use it on something else later it’ll be more useful.

Check out manuals sections on 7100 series rocker shaft, rear lift cable can be re located to counter balance deck or front mounted accessories.

Well after looking at electric actuators I got a price for a used hydraulic system off a 7117h for $180 which will bolt right up to my tractor so I'm thinking of going that route instead

For that price, you'd be nuts not to!

Hydraulic is a better choice usually.
