Anlong with using a flame weeder for preemergence I thought I would also try was wire weeder I've seen them but never came across one so made my own It was one of those projects that took way too long After I had a few hours into it I walked by a steel leaf rake which would have worked with less  work Oh well it might work when I plant spinach in a wide bed

Kind of hard to tell by the photos but looks like the nail are spaced to far apart and the weeds will slip through between them.  One of the push type cultivators with the wheel and cutter bar work good in soft soil.

The metal is an old an old mattress , yea might have been a complete waste of time and I'll end up using the metal leaf rake lol .
