Did you measure the length of the threaded linkages rod that connect the throttle shaft to the governor lever? There is a setting for that in the manual. You'll get this figured out, so have patients. Walk away from it for a bit, and have the boy hide any hammers that you own.

What your saying is that the spring determines the RPM. In reference to my post #24, the spring setting is supposed to adjust the sensitivity of the governor. If it isn't adjusted properly the engine will surge at open throttle. The RPM is adjusted by the throttle cable which isn't shown in the last drawing.

Is there any play in the govenor to carb linkage? I was trying to tune up a smaller Kohler and that was half of the trouble. A small spring to keep it from bouncing solved it.

Hi Beef, adding an "O" will not work it adds to much drag  BTDT doesn't but your right on its the carb NOT the Governor

The bushing size needed is 1/4" X 3/8" X 1/2"

Yea, I thought about that. Thanks.

How long is the engine running for? Is it warmed up? Have you adjusted the mixture screw's, both of them.

Lots of variable's for a surging engine
