I put most of the 2418 back together and tried to  start it up and noticed gas misting out of the carb.  On the way home i remembered that i had a new intake seat put in head.  I totally forgot about the valve work....I'm guessing that the intake is not closing all the way and needs proper play on the top gaped to specs in the manual.  The rocker is probably to tight and not seating the intake properly and i'm seeing blow back through the carb.   Any opinions would be appreciated.

Of course, after a rebuild, all necessary adjustments must be done.

The compression release will hold the intake slightly open until the engine starts.

Did the machine shop Lap the valves in?  Set valve lash at TDC on the Compression stroke. There is a bit of valve overlap where both valves will be open slightly on TDC of the exhaust stroke. You can find TDC by a | or T mark on the flywheel visible through a hole in the side of the blower housing on the Carburetor side.

Video explaining all 4 strokes.

Please tell me you removed those Balance gears. Those puppies were Shot. Seriously it's not a matter of IF they will let go it's WHEN will they let go.

I did notice something that has me thinking when the engines running on the k361 and I pull out the dipstick there are pressure and vacuum surges that you can definitely see and feel and hear what does that indicate?

It indicates the piston is going up & down the engine is running your getting oil to the overhead to lube the valves that a pulse fuel will work and that all is normal.

It sounds good.
