The first photo is my pail of parts.
The second is a piston assembly that is seized.
The third is the charge pump, it has some shallow groves in it. I am wondering if this was the failure point.
The fourth is the gear on the back of the motor, I think it is in pretty good shape.

I read the Gentleman’s article about rebuilding these a dozen times and have had my two gallons of mineral spirits on standby for about three months! He talks about hand lapping the piston assemblies, with mine being seized and having surface rust am I beyond that point? What can the charge pump look like and still be serviceable?

I sincerely want to thank everyone for their help and words of encouragement! You are making a newb feel welcome!

Myself, I would just get a good working pump. You may go to all the work of trying to fix this one and find it won't work.

waoh! yeah having trouble with my hydro also- I was looking at parts from a couple places -those piston assys look like they go for about 270.00 apiece- I do know that the charge pump-"kit" will run a couple hundred- the new style eliminates the drive pin as the new input shaft is splined- last time I ordered parts it was from BERENDENSEN HYDRAULICS. a implement relief valve kit was like 70.00. good luck with her and keep us posted
