If you was closer lol.

Snapper Hi-Vac 21. They still sell those as commercial mowers but with a heavy steel deck. Yours is a base model since it isn't self propelled. They haven't changed very much over the years. Same deck shell and bagger design. The outlet on the older decks are slightly different. I've been looking for a chute for mine so I don't have to use the bagger all the time. Mine is a 1998 model. Not sure I could use the older chute.

Yours might be a Magnesium deck. My old Toro guardian 21 is from around the same year your snapper is and it's Magnesium. Paint doesn't seem to stick very well to Magnesium decks lol.

Here's a recoil that will fit if you end up painting it and keeping it.

The new Hi-Vac mowers are pretty expensive. Especially the ones with electric start. Base models run $400-$600, Honda GXV160 powered self propelled ones are up around $1000 and with electric start they cost around $1200-$1400.

Lightly scuff an edge to get to bare metal (not tarnished) and put a few drops of distilled white vinegar on it. No reaction: aluminum. Foams up: magnesium.
