I had extra 12" rims and some gm steel 14" rims from the 60's . I cut the 12" rims in half , then cut the center part of the 14" rims out , the 12" slipped right into the 14's . welded them in  . then I mounted up a set of nice studded winter tires and put them on . they just clear the fenders . I'm going to raise the fenders 1" and I should be ok to put chains on . I was wondering if the larger tires would effect the power , didn't bother it at all . it also has a little more top end .  I don't use this tractor to cut grass, this is my work tractor , it does everything else .  it looks like a factory rim , came out nice .  I think I'll see if I can build a set of dual wheels next .

Very clever. You will sacrifice some pulling ability because of the bigger wheels but it probably won't be noticeable. Post some pics. Good Luck, Rick

I plowed snow with it today , no issues with power .  I'm going to do another set , I have some 1930's wire wheels off a ford . they are 16" . I might do a set of them . i'm also  looking for another bolens qt , going to make it into a little truck . I found the tractor, just have to go get it .  I'll post some pictures of the wheels I just did . making the  first set of wheels was really easy ..

here's a picture of my Bolens QT with14" tires . the bigger tires gave me some more speed , and it really didn't hurt my power at all .. I also repowered the tractor with a kohler magumn 18 hp ..

Does the QT have a std 4.5 bolt spacing?  If so, just get a set of standard trailer rims.
