I bought this blower yesterday hoping to fix it up and either use it or sell it. I now fear it was a waste of money. This moint is for the 300 series i believe adn also has the 33% slower gearbox. But It didn't come with the other half of the driveshaft and I didn't notice what was missing till I got home and looked up pictures. Can anyone tell me if there's any place that still sells the driveshaft? Long shot I know because I've read you can't buy it and I can't find it listed anywhere. Also if not has anyone ever converted this older style 57 blower to a quick hitch version? Is it even possible? Here's some pics of what I have.92837fb468a4a36f9407db8b94bdbd16.jpg1492953ecfe14564a0118c99fb9a8dae.jpgff629b75caf56540011983c4e326afc9.jpgef22cd21034c81e4f9bc8a190955ef7e.jpg

I was able to look this up at JD Parts, but I am not sure what I'd be looking at. If you enter 47 in the model, it will get you there, just have to pick the right things. I saw a drive shaft in there, maybe Epay has that.

Thanks! Unfortunately I don't have an account. I've looked on ebay quite a bit and haven't found anything

Any way you could show the view of the mount head on so we could see if there were alterations?  I thought this was for the 400 series all this time, it would be nice to wrong in that respect.

I can get one. But this mount is factory for a 300 series.

As jimbowlie posted:

Dive shaft area pics, including the bearing plate so we can see whats missing please, then we can be a lot better at helping you find parts and numbers. Also get pics of the mount so we can see the offset bends to confirm 300 series mount versus 400 series mount. Please work with us, so we can better help you.

Also the bottom mounts to the unit have been changed out, for it looks thinner plate steel (square rusted plates)

Yes I'll get pics as soon as possible. Yah those plates seem to me someone wanted it to lift higher. Someone had their way with this lots of poorly done mods.

You could try Green Tractor Talk and Weekend Freedom Machines, they have classified sections and maybe a member has one. That is definitely a 300 series mount. As Russ (JD318420) said, the mounting plates on the blower are not original. Also the metal tab sticking up is a add on, looks like somebody tried to adapt it to a different tractor.

Well it has been cobbled, problem is a lot of parts are NLA, I have attached shots from the john deere parts site.

the lift pivots (items 2A or 2B) are NLA so that explains the ones on there, must not have had a band saw with steel cutting blade or a rushed repair job. The front drive mounting plate is missing the shaft housing (item 13 which is still available) however the shaft is not. Plus the outer shaft is missing to mate to the gear reduction, The yokes and yoke with tube are available.

I still see a lot of potential from cobble land...  If alignment is right and pulley/tension-er can be found or fashioned.  The drive lines on Ebay could join power to drive the tines. We can rebuild it...  The 6mil dollar snow blower.  Because hey, who wants OEM right...lol?  All kidding aside, this is designed to retro down to a 300 for real?  Looks heavy enough that major back end weight would be needed in any case.  Thanks for the up close and personals (parts break down and diagrams) JD318420 always nice to see what it is supposed to look like before the COBBLE begins. Or, in this case before it began.  thz71, good luck, I am hopeful and a twitter to see what the gurus suggest because I am interested in what becomes of your project.

Missing parts can be salvaged, just its the proverbial "egg hunt", or you make make you own if you have machinist skills, know a machinist or know of a shop you trust.
