*sigh*
Pulled the flywheel to replace the second crank seal. Found two loose magnets..

I know it was better to find them now instead of when they migrated someplace and caused destruction, but man, this project just keeps snowballing!

Have you looked into Belzona?  I have used this in my line of work and i will swear by it. We have taken bearings off of shafts that were chewed up put Belzona on it turn it down and never a problem. Some of the best two part epoxy ever made. look it up just a suggestion.
