Picked up a 582 cub, very nice overall but noticed when I unloaded it, it rolls when in gear (any gear) gotta tear into the tranny this week. any idea what might make it do this ?

Does it run and drive? How about just looking at driveshaft couplings or clutch first? Start with small stuff.

Or the drive shaft is not connected. Before tearing a trans apart check it over

If it will roll in any gear then it must be a driveshaft issue. Pull the tunnel cover and check the spiral pins in the driveshaft, it's not uncommon for them to break after all these years. The pins are special and you can't just put a roll pin in it or it will break.

What Tim said, I am sure it is difficult to move, but if it rolls like it is in neutral, there may be an internal transmission issue.

Is it red, or yellow and white?

Red model 582 rolls really easy in any gear, haven’t had a chance to look at it yet. But thanks to all for the info
