The i.d tag says its an economy s/n 4987---1957.  The original paint color under the orange is red. Some photos I found of red-e are identical to my tractor. I have read about re tagging tractors from one company to another in the 50's. . So what do I have?  Help    Butch

How about some pictures.  Someone will tell year off that serial. All the brands that PK made were in same number list in most cases.  There were some early Economy's  that were red also, but think had to be REAL early, not sure.

Here's a pic member grnlark posted a while back. This would be the tag that you should find on a Red-E badged Economy tractor.

The only thing differentiating a Red E branded tractor from that era from an Economy sold tractor is the name on the ID Tag. If the original color is red rather than orange, it could very well have been a Red E sold tractor that slipped through with an Economy marked tag as EPCO kept the serial number sequence; no matter how the particular tractor was branded. Unless you can track down any original paperwork, we'll never know for sure. Without any documentation tying that serial number to Red E, it's a 1957 Economy tractor as far as anyone is concerned.

Good luck with your project! Rob

Hey Classic,

That particular tractor now resides in Wisconsin, owned by friend "bread320i" who I'm sure will chime in on this thread. :)

That's cool Rob. Again, it seems like a small world when it comes to these machines.
