So I bought my Bolens 1250 last week, I got it home and it’d only run on choke. So I thought no brainer the carb is gummed up. I took it apart and it was straight up nasty, so I ordered a rebuild kit. I got a Walbro carb with the deal which looked brand new and I opened it up and it was spotless. I put it on along with a new fuel filter, and it idles beautiful and even on half throttle runs good. When I pull it to full throttle it acts like the choke is on and cuts out and dies, has no power. I set the high idle needle to factory settings, 1.5 turns out and still nothing. I’ve tried adjusting it both ways and still runs like crap at full idle. Any suggestions?!

Sounds like the new carb is to small. Take a look at the inside diameter of the new carb VS the original carb. Betting the new carb is smaller on the inside just behind the choke plate.

Thanks for the reply. I believe it’s the right carb but I’ll definately look at it. It gets plenty of fuel when I back the needle out because it spits gas through the choke hole.

Welcome to GTT. Download the manuals for the 1250 from our Manuals Section. Check the points too. Good Luck, Rick

Thanks for the add gents! I’ll
Be sure to check the points, that seems to be the logical
Cause. I figured if the points were dirty it wouldn’t start at all, but doing research...well I was wrong. I’ll let you guys know what I find. Thanks again.
