Hi everyone, I was at a local junkyard today and saw this tractor. It says Towne and Country on the hood and the tag says Senator Tillers Plymouth WI. I was immediately suspicious about it being a Gilson when I saw it was from Plymouth WI. It looks to me like its the same tractor as a Gilson c14. Has anyone seen one of these before or know anything about it? Thanks.

looks like a C series to me, judging from the light panel and the belt guard laying in the seat.

Thanks everyone, does anyone know what years these c series Gilson tractors were built? What did these tractors use for a sleeve hitch? I cant find too much information on these early Gilsons. Hopefully I can get it, it looks to be pretty complete other than the engine, even both speaker 777 glass headlight lenses are still intact.

I don't know when the C series started, but the S series that replaced it came out in '67 or '68, so they are earlier than that.

I have to get back there, It is right in the town where I go to college and I have secured a place to work on it, now I just need to find someone with a truck to take me down there and hopefully buy it. I don't really think it is going anywhere, its a pretty old school overgrown place, but I'd like to get down there sooner rather than later. There is also an IH cadet 282 lawn tractor there I'd like to save too, someday.

Same in name and color only.  Probably whoever marketed the Towne and Country changed suppliers.  MTD and Gilson are in no way related or share parts outside of standard stuff.
