Well, called him and came to a price we could both live with. A little more than I wanted to pay, but he's going to help load :D

Pics when they're home.

Good deal Alan, glad you got it.

Alan glad you got the hydraulic unit. I asked that man many question and from that phone discussion I would have never guessed it to be that rough !!!!

Is that a two cylinder Wisconsin or a snowmobile engine?
Maybe the hydro's are good

Think of it this way ... I just sold a hydraulic unit off of a JD 210 and got $375 for it. Those on a Massey I would think to be fairly rare.

I expanded the pictures... engine is a Hirth .... a 2 cycle snowmobile engine probably '70's vintage

Here is an idea for you new tractor

Yahoo! Search - Video Search

Edit : Hmmmm the link didn't work so go to youtube and search for "John Deere tractor snowmobile"

Maybe former owners of your find had an idea they didn't follow through with !

More tough luck here for Alan.... both decks broke out same place .... right rear depth wheel.... can't even cut weld and make one good deck

That seller told me the decks were good

Good Alan got there first .... I might have decked that guy .... :mad2:

I have to tell you, I am seeing at least one hydrostatic 12 WITH the super rare power lift options and enough stuff to maybe make another hydro 12? That is a great deal even at $300 if you ask me! But that 2-cyl German built motor is kinda cool and if it could be made to run, would be really cool in a custom built 12 hydro!

IF you are thinking about unloading any parts though, I might be interested... I have a few sub par parts on my hydro 12 project still.

What do the decks look like, I would think that you can make a patch to fix it.

Here is the deck ... go back and view Alans pics ... two decks here ... a matched pair. The Hirth could be worth some $$$ It is a 2 cycle screaming high rpm engine

That hirth engine here in MN is pretty common and worth around $100 they were very tempermental and use mostly by Artic Cat but basicaly every brand of snowmobile used a similar hirth at one time (Late 60's early 70's). That engine looks like it's about 20hp-25hp Possibly more beacause it has a HD Tillotson carb on it.
