skidding deck on 16D cuts turf

As I turn corners mowing with my 16D, I notice the front rollers are cutting the turf. Has anybody replaced these rollers with wheels that can rotate on their axes? Or, are such wheels available at farm stores for welding into the deck?

I saw an article on the Net that discussed this situation. When the deck wheel is turned into a hill, it bites in and tears the turf. Lateral movement of the wheel does the damage as the wheel often totally stops rotating as it moves laterally, not in a forward direction. Thanks for the suggestion

You might try plastic washers on the axle on both sides of the roller so that it can't jam against the side support. Plastic washers should slip easier than steel washers. Good Luck, Rick
