Any signs someone had been in it before? That's what happened to Ryans engine, someone didn't tighten the mains and one side loosened up. The splash oiler was touching the case when you turned it over.

Time to open her up.

NICE find and save on your new to you Sears! It is in way to good of condition to become a parts tractor. Hope you get the engine problem fixed and up and running again.

This tractor will be coming with me to the plowday if I make it out there. Hopefully I will have a 3pt by the time that comes around.

Yes, I was looking at it for parts... but the thing was.... I didn't get a chance to see it and had no info on condition.

well, now its time for an update. I got my new engine today. As I said it was out of a bolens so I didnt know what to suspect. When the engine came I found out about the oil drain on the bottom of the block, and my super 12 having a solid frame I couldnt use that engine. So, I pulled it all apart and took the piston and connecting rod out and threw it in the supers engine. I got it all back together and hit the key and it was fire every so often. It seemed like the timing was off so I opened it up and wella, the timing was WAY off. So I got it all sorted out and it ran for a few seconds then quPhoto0161.jpg

Disconnect the wire from the SSI. Hold onto it while you crank & you should get a pulsing "tingle". Not bad, its not spark voltage. If not, let us know.
As for the gaps, which SSI do you have? Does the flywheel have pins on it?
