As the titles says i was wondering if this was possible to swap a predator 3hp. the biggest concern is with gear reduction and shaft size of the current engine, which i guess i should have got the engine info. i will tomorrow , the current engine is a briggs but it smokes, the carb is a real pain in the rear and it doesn't have recoil start

thanks

cody

i bet it would be fine you might want to check the RPM ratings though. I don't know much about these tractors though so i'm not really the person to ask. are they belt driven? you can change pully size.

Cody, one of the biggest questions is what are you planning on doing with the tractor. The original engine is a 6 to 1 reduction so you would have to do some major pulley changes or get an engine with a reduction. If this is just a working machine, it would be alright. If you are wanting to keep it as a collectible, it would ruin the value. Parts should be available to rebuild the Briggs.
