I have an Ingersoll Snocaster that needs a new drive chain. Now, right off I'll tell you over in the Case Forum they swear by all things OE. But . . .         a new drive chain fron Case is $35 for 3 feet. When I checked Farm & Fleet, they cost $11.00 for the cheap stuff (Agrimaster) or $19.00 for the good heavy duty stuff(D.I.D.) for 10 feet.

Is the Case roller chain really made out of gold?

I usually go with the high quality after market items rather than OEM.  Baldwin hydraulic filter $6.  Cub Cadet filter $16+.  Only filter I buy is Baldwin.

Ingersoll likely didn't make chain - they bought it from somewhere.  No sense paying extra to have an Ingersoll label on the box.

I'm with the others - D.I.D. is a premium chain, quite likely better quality than the one in an Ingersoll box.

I bet the chain is made by the same people that make the other crap. We bought alligator belt clamps for out round bailer belts after we payed up the butt for Deere to re lace one and they use the same alligator lace as we get from theisens for about 1-100 the cost as Deere. And we have used farm and fleet chain over oem chain with no problems. If it's going to break it's going to break or somthing is making it break.
