Awhile back I purchased this 75 John Deere 200 from fellow member
Truck 21 neither of us wanted to see it parted out.
It was neglected and in very sad shape. It has been sitting in my garage ever
since and I wanted to see if it runs and was worth saving.
Turns out it is. Opened up the engine and was
happy with what I saw so continued tinkering with it and now it'll even start
with the key and run on its own and does not smoke. It'll need a valve adjustment
for sure later. Since our local Apple Festival is coming up in October
I wanted to have it there driving around under its own power. After that it'll
be a complete tear down and restoration . Should be a good winter project.

that is how my 120 project started - saved from being parted then ended up restored and put to work.  Looking forward to seeing the project unfold.

Thanks yes I'm looking forward to it. Hoping life does not get in the way to much.
My last full project was my 208 and that was a switch from the Round Fenders
I had been tinkering with.

I jumped from the round fenders to the hydro myself.  You can see the Deere family design in them all.

A little more progress on the 200 today.
Welded the right side foot board back on another fender deck I got from
Truck 21. Even after having to do that repair it's still in better shape
than the old one. Also cut the seat brackets and bolts off of the
old severely rusted seat pan and put an old seat I had.
Repaired the headlight switch but cannot get the sockets
out of the hood yet to clean out the corrosion so the bulbs stay on.
Installed a new spring on the drive belt idler pulley.
Hopefully I can get the brake and clutch pedals back on and try
driving it around within the next week. A little worried about
the brake band being rusted fast to the pulley.
Back tires are temporary as the old ones were junk and it'll be
getting new on when it's restored.

Looking good so far. Nice to save one from the scrapyard or death by rust.

Yes Yes Don sold me the tractor and the 75 fender deck to replace the one
that was on it as the previous owner destroyed the original. Neither of us
wanted to see it parted out and I did not have a 200. It'll be the mate for my
208 once it's all done. It'll take awhile though.

Pop and I also had saved my 210 from the scrap yard crusher.
It's now my worker it cuts grass and gets a plow on in the Winter
to back up my GT235. Think I've finally got the bugs out of the 210 and the
decks been completely rebuilt and it works great. There's a pic of that one
In the JohnDeere gallery.

Spent a little more time with the 200 today and proud to say it now runs
and drives all by itself for the first time in who knows how long. Had to repair the
break linkage and install the pedal today .
Still more work to do during the restoration but am very happy to see it
we're it's at now . Our local Apple Festival is in October and now it'll be there
sharing space with the other herd members.

Good luck with the project. Share your project pics when you have a chance.
I'll get started with mine in October after our local Apple Festival.
