Hey Guys,

I will be picking up a 1669 this month, found it on CL after I read the article on the XL series by Classic Bolens.

I became interested after I found out in the article that it has the B & S Vanguard  16 Horse twin. I love that engine, I have that same engine in my John Deere LT 166 lawn tractor that I picked up used back in 2007 I have been using it to cut grass for the pass ten years. Any way there is a ton of hours on that motor and I just runs great and never have any problems with it. It is actually a Japanese designed engine.

So I had a chance to get this 1669 with that engine so I made a deal with the owner and will pick it up this month. The motor was professionally rebuilt four years ago and he sent the drive shaft out to be rebuilt. He said he does not have the mower deck any more it rotted out but he has the plow blade for plowing snow in the winter.

Here are some pictures,

Thanks for taking a look!

Oldford, Classic Bolens was correct when he said the combination of the Bolens engineering in the 1669 and the Vanguard twin was a final triumph for the 1669.

I don't know the back story of what happened to Bolens but it was a real shame when they stopped production of this machine right at the peak of excellence.

These machines are out there I am sure you will find one.
