I just got done putting a speed changer on my 5751 David Bradley. I was wondering if the belts should stay looser than a normal belt? Both belts are brand new.

Looked in the manual and messing around with it I would have to say "yes". I took it out for a spin with the belts fairly loose and it went much faster than it did after I tightened the belts to what I would consider "tight".

I can loosen them up to a point in between "tight" with maybe 1/4" deflection on the long belt and loose with 3/4" to 1" deflection.

I'm thinking I'll just have to loosen it up and take it out and see if it slips when plowing, the higher speed was nice.

Anyone else have experience with this?

Thanks.
