Cow chips are pretty easy if you fling em like a frisbee. Horse manure is another matter. By the time it's dry enough to handle safely, it's too light to get any distance!....but thrown at a target from a moving GT....that might be fun!

The teeter-totter is pretty cool...but the horse is fantastic! Looks like he needs to do a little more work on the controls though.
I took some close-up pics of the teeter-totter at the Wheel Horse show last weekend. I think we can build one like this fairly inexpensively and easily.

Kind of a bump and also a link to some really good ideas. Thanks Troy.

Guy's,

I've been asked to help out for next year's show, with Garden Tractor Games. I said I would, but I'm going to need some help and some ideas. I have a list of games below that I came up with, but please give some ideas to ones that you may know about, so that we can include them for our activities.

1) Slow Moving Contest: go as slow as you can without using brakes and without stalling. (separate race for gear drive and hydro. drive)
2) Fast Moving Contest: go as fast as you can with a plastic spoon in your mouth holding a ping pong ball. (separate race for gear drive and hydro. drive)
3) Coil the Snake: get a 25' chain or rope, that is stretched out straight, completely into a 3' radius circle. (timed event / separate race for gear drive and hydro. drive)
4) Blind Fold Contest: get as close to the finish line as you can without going past.
5) Horse Lead Contest: drive through an obstacle course while blind folded, and your spouse leading you like a horse. (timed event)
6) Backing Contest: back a two wheeled and four wheeled trailer through an obstacle course.
7) Parallel Parking: park your tractor parallel to a railroad tie, and between two road cones without hitting anything. (timed event)

Maybe we could even do a Garden Tractor Square Dance or Rodeo? This would have to be practiced with guys that arrive on Thursday or Friday, so we could possibly be ready for a Sunday morning display. Anybody know how to call square dancing? Just an idea.

Teeter Totter is fun, where you try and balance your tractor on a platform, but if we can't find one, we would have to make one. Maybe some of us local guys can get together from now until then, and we could get one in the planning stages, and eventually build one for next years show? We can make it big enough to include the Farm Tractor drivers.

I will also need some help in running and setting up these events at the show, so if any of you would be interested in helping out, drop me a notification in my profile. I'll get back to you just as soon as I can. You don't have to be a local to sign up or help out. We can all get together the morning of each day, and discuss how to layout each event, and who will be helping with each event. With the events that are listed above, and with the events that you guys suggest, maybe we could get the whole family envolved, and have the spouse's and kid's join in on the fun! Every event would be for fun only, so we don't have to worry about being competitive and beating anyone. We just want to have a little extra seat time, and play time! After all, we all still have a little kid in us, don't we?

Here is another bump, and another year in the bag.

If you guys haven't started doing something like this at your shows, you gotta start. The kids with GT's love it and the parents really get into it. They start doing things like participating themselves and hollering from the ring side, and the next thing you know, they are competing like only families can LOL

This year, we did the following:
Tractor Golf (push a ball with your front tire 20 ft into a hole)
image.jpg
Chain drag (20 foot chain, gotta go back and forth until its all in a 2' square)
image.jpg
Teeter totter (caseguy built this last year, it's a big hit)
image.jpg
Mail delivery route (deliver 4 newspapers to mail boxes scattered thru the obstacle course)
image.jpg
Back seat driver (driver blindfolded, direction giver can only say gee (right) haw (left) whoa and giddeyup. Penalties for extra words)
image.jpg
Bull horn optional
image.jpg

We ended up with extra time this year because of some track conditions. Originally we were only going to do a little on Friday, but ended up going for quite a while.
Thanks for the ideas guys, and thanks to the participants and volunteers that make it happen.

Looks like you all had a great time!

One that I didn't see mentioned is a water balloon toss. Make a high-jump type bar, as you drive under it you have to toss the balloon over the bar and catch it  on the other side, every round the bar gets higher. If you knock the bar off or drop the balloon you are out.

We are having Dairy Items for our second feature this year.

So, as part of one of the games, they will have to lasso a "cow" so they can milk her...

this is going to be fun (insert evil laugh here)

The girls had to get on it just for fun after i built it tonight.

I may break out the 102 for the challenge. It has speed... Although the brakes are crap (stops around half the time).

I have an idea on a teeter totter. I have a 6' long piece of old bar top that is 50" wide, that is two 3/4" sheets of plywood screwed together. I have access to some 2-3/8" pipe to make the fulcrum from. Here's a pic of what I am thinking.

Think it would work?
