My Father, 71yrs old passed away in March from Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease(human form mad cow) he was my mothers care giver(Alzheimers). We had to find a retirement home for her and may have to move her to a dementia unit. So for the past couple months we've been going through the house cleaning out 40+ yrs of mostly junk. In the garage I've found parts from what I believe is a Mitchell bomber mostly instruments and a crank starter for the engine, I also found a small all aluminum Chrysler motor,2 stroke, weighs about 10lbs,new in the box never bin run. I remember him tellin me it was for a micro lite air craft project he never really got started. old radio parts and pieces,I've tossed at least half a dozen old alternators, transformers, electric motors an old safe he hauled home from the neighbors place. The garage is 28x28 and he only had room to park one vehicle in it. We've filled two bins 20x5x5 of stuff from the house and I'm workin on fillin a 20 yard bin just for scrap steel.
Are there any meccano fans out there? I have boxes and boxes full of it.
Thanks for letting me rant, In conclusion I'd like to ask that you don't leave a mess like that for your kids to clean up. It's been an emotional roller coaster ride for my sisters, brother and I. Oh yea no will or guardian ship of my mother so more paper work than you can shake a stick at.

Ian

Good luck, I feel for you. I will say that you are lucky in that you have your siblings to share this with... I am an only child and will eventually have to sort out my parents belongings.

Prayers to you and your family. May this process be as painless as possible.

I am sorry for your position and hope things will smooth out for you. At the same time that this is stressful, try to visit your Dad's history while going through his things. Everything he had also had a story behind it, so you might be able to turn it into a trip down his memory lane, and some of your memories also. Painful as it all must be, maybe some good things can be gleaned from it.

Sorry to hear your going through it! Just go with it and it will work out. My parents like yours were Depression kids and hoard anything they might need some day. That Chrysler Motor is something of a collectors piece!! Back in the 60's they were used on gokarts for racing enduro's.
Chrysler bought out West Bend and relabeled the Motors as Chrysler.

My Prayers are with you and your Family, It is tough but like mentioned before each item has a story. Try and remember these stories.

I just lost my father one week ago, it was all too sudden and all too soon he was only 58 years old.
