Have a 1974 G-16 with a 42" side discharge, the deck has been welded on and in rough shape. I found a 48" online, but it looks like the wheels in back rotate, whereas my wheels manually adjust up and down. Is this deck compatible with my tractor? Model of my tractor is 53019

Welcome to GTT. You can go into our Manuals Section and download the manuals for your tractor. They may tell which decks are interchangeable. There may also be some Ford labelled decks that will fit. Post some good pics showing the details so that we can better help you. Good Luck, Rick

Tube frame mower decks were 32", 38", or 42".  The 48" deck is probably for a large frame tractor (they used 48", 54").

Not saying it couldn't be "modified" to work on a tube frame, but the mounting is all together different and the  drive shaft splines are different ( 6 tooth on the tube frame, 15 tooth on the large frames.  It would be a lot of work.  I'd keep my eye out for a 42" tube frame deck.

I think the poster is referring to the Gilson G-16.  Totaly different animal than Bolens.

Yes. I'm referring to the gilson G-16. It looks like it mounts the same. I would put on a 42 if I could find one

If it is what I am thinking of, yes they will interchange.  The 48 uses different outer blades, the center is the same as a 42.  The 42 uses the same size on all three.

I've got a similar situation I am wondering about.  Does anyone know for sure if the mower decks from H16s are compatible with the ford LGT18h?  It at least looks similar in the photo, but he says its a 52 inch deck which I didn't think existed?  I am pretty sure the ford branded models were only 42 and 48.

He may have measured the deck, not the blades.

The deck shell is similar, but the attachment system to the tractor is different.  I have often wondered if the attachment system can be swapped, as I have a Wards I am trying to find a deck for.
