I've never grown zucchini before except once and the borers got them. I've heard all the jokes about how prolific zukes are; you can't get rid of all of them.

This year I've planted bush zucchinis; three hills of them. They are growing prolifically, flowering a lot, but I've only gotten two fruit so far. Is there a problem?

there are male flowers and female flowers, your variety may have 2 many males pick them off and keep only a few for pollination or you need bees, the flowers are good breaded and fried it's an Italian thing

I agree I think LD has a pollination problem. The male blooms are the first to appear. When pollinated a near by female bloom will stay on the vine & will produce fruit. The male blooms just fall off.

I like slices of zucchini breaded & fried & of coarse zucchini bread.

Can't believe people want those things!  Wife always plants and they go at it big time producing much more than one can use. They are just a filler for recipes mostly, not something you can eat like a cuke or such.  One can only eat so much Zuchini Bread!  Hard to give away as noted. Think only reason we have them is that she does not have to fuss with them to grow, they just go crazy by themselves!

So far this year, I've breaded and fried them 3x's. Sauteed and put in omelets, tacos, and whatever else I can think of. Oh and can't forget the bread. My wife will shred the large ones and freeze it for later use in bread. I pick the smaller ones for slicing and dicing. Found a recipe for zucchini fries id like to try.

Tis the season!!!

If anyone can't get enough zukes, did you know that immature butternut squash can be used the same way?

I agree I think LD has a pollination problem.

I'll run that past my psychiatrist . Thanks.

My wife makes Greek Moussaka and substitutes zucchini for the eggplant. http://allrecipes.co...19644/moussaka/
