Can anyone help ID this tractor.  Owner says S14 but it has 4 speed trans, it does have 6 hp Briggs.  I know little, but is seems either engine or trans has been replaced at one time or is it a different model all together.  Any help would be appreciated.

I think it's probably a re-powered S-18 or S-19.

Can you get him to send you the serial number?

My cheat sheet says that should either be a 1966 S-14 or a 1967 S-23 or S-24.

The belt guard looks like S-18/S-19.  The 4 speed transaxle is S-18/S-19.

I'd think it would be tough to adapt the transaxle to a S-14 frame.  I wonder if this is one of those oddballs that Speedex apparently was in the habit of making.

Speedex in WI, that is odd in it's self!  Try serial in left frame rail, might be kinda painted over, depending on repaints or thickness. Most S models had simple 2spd trans, think later 4 digits had the trans-axles, but might be wrong.  www.speedextractorinformation.com is place to look at pictures and manuals. Scan thru a few diff manuals and see what might match. Mans are small, few pages, mostly blow-up drawings, won't take long. Engine move for the clutch action or belt tensioner?  I'm thinking belt tensioner with that big cover on it.  Looks all pretty and red. Gonna buy that one?  Seems to have some rear hitch changes, can't make out just what was done.

Looks like an S18/19 chassis, but who knows? What is the manufacturing date on the engine? That might give a clue to  what it is.
