recently I picked up a complete (minus the air cleaner) k161t off ebay, it was reasonable and po said it had no spark. I got for the minimum bid. I was nervous when ship weight of 78 pounds but he packed real well and arrived undamaged.
so no spark looks like he put new points on it, so time pull the flywheel maybe sheared key plus to check the coil behind it. fly wheel key was fine when taken off. whoa!!! the whole back of the flywheel was loaded with snails from long ago. (they were not gooey) magnet was completely covered when shells and whatever snail remains are. cleaned it all up back together bright blue spark. not sure what it's going on yet but it's nice to have a pull start kohler for the future.

Sadly, any critter that needs a home will find the easiest route to make 1, just like a human, usually never ends up well for both parties :(

Salt

Yeah,  but salt would be corrosive on the flywheel!

Just pour a big circle and park in the middle. Like one of those Voodoo movies.
