My 1886-01 if the label is correct:

Year 1971
Engine K482-s
s/n 2231706
spec 35113b

has what appears to be a 30 amp system. It's got the black regulator/rectifier with the heat sink. It is made by Synchro. I've heard that the 1886 had both  15 and 30 amp systems. My regulator/rectifier and stator is new as of a few years ago. I noticed a bad spot on my flywheel ring gear that the starter engages against.

I'm trying to find a replacement flywheel or perhaps just the ring gear if possible(easiest solution). I'm not sure if I  need a 30 amp specific flywheel? I can't find any part numbers that would indicate which flywheel would work for me.

Would anyone know if there is a difference between the flywheels off of a k432 in an 1886-01 vs 02-05 or and ht 20 etc? I'm hoping that I could simply swap out the ring gear. I see it listed separately in the k432 manual. Thank you for any help with this.

As far as swapping of flywheels you do need a 30amp specific for the k482 a k532 (ht20) will fit but you'd have to change over to a 15amp system, which I'd recommend if you hadn't already invested in a new rectifier/regulator and stator. The 30amp system over charges the battery and that's why you see all the '86's with the discolored paint down the frame rails and the drag link eaten away at from the battery acid. The ring gear off a k532 or 582 should work they all use the same starter. I'm thinking I have some k482 flywheels somewhere because I changed all my '86's over to the 15 amp charging systems , flywheels and all. Question is where did I put them , I'll give a look if your in a bind.
