I have a Gravely 816S which I purchased new in 1976.  I am attempting to find new front tires for it.  The owners manual says the tire size is 16 X 5:50-5.  That tire size appears to be completely unavailable today.  My measurements of the original tires and wheel are: Wheel Diameter - 9"; Tire Diameter (inflated) - 15"; Tire Width (inflated) - 4 1/2".  Can anyone tell me what size tire to use as a replacement for the original tires?  Thanks in advance.

16 x 6.50 x 8 is most common size. 5 does not sound right?? If you measured wheel as 9", must have been right out to the edge?  Wheel should be measured at the bend in that outer rim, so probly an 8"?  Width of wheel is same, inside the metal rim, not accross the outside. Hard to measure with tire on. Take to tire shop or ?? and let them look at it, and think the above size I listed should fit OK. Maybe you made error on that full size listing on your message? 5" would be real tiny.  Does the tire itself have the size still visible?
