Is there space to drill and add a set screw?

My LGT hubs have a tapered woodruff key slots.  This sets the distance on the rear shaft and also wedges it in place.  I hope we are talking about the same thing.

I know the Mtd990 will swap out with the 1 1/8" WH hubs. Some of the Ford tractors have the same rear axle as the Mtd990.

Your right those WH hubs are like buying gold. Their being hoarded because switching to these allows some of us to go from a 15" Wheel to a 12" therefore tires are more common & less expensive.
