Hey guys, this winter I answered an ad from CL for some Bolens wheel weights and ended up coming home with a boat load of tractors and attachments!

It took several trips to get it all back home but I had fun doing it. I believe the total came to about $600.00 for everything

- one reel mower

- Four rototillers

- 38" mower deck

- 42" mower deck

- three Snowcasters

- one Sleeve hitch

- Bolens 1000 tractor

- Bolens 1050 tractor

- Bolens 1050 parts tractor

- Bolens 1225 parts tractor

- Bolens 1256 tractor

I think I am going to be busy rebuilding tractors for a two or three years!

I was really excited to find a Bolens 1000 complete except for the seat they were only made for one year, a classic Bolens 1050 I think is a must have for any tractor collection, and it will be nice to have a second hydro unit in the 1256 for my wife, she does not like a stick shift, she needs an automatic! And If you get your wife a Bolens tractor then she can join in the fun of fixing them up with you!

Yea, I could not believe what I stumbled into, especially that reel mower! I had picked up a mower deck for my H14 1456  a couple of years ago but had not been able to find any other attachments that I felt I could afford, then I hit the mother load so I grabbed it.

Once I got my first Bolens a few years ago I got bit by the bug, and now I have Bolens fever!

Quite the haul!

The only problem I found with getting my wife her own tractor....she thinks her tractor deserves special treatment over my tractors, and that I have too many in the garage crowding hers!

I live in the western part of New England, my wife says that she is married to me and a Bolens tractor, so I got her a Bolens 1256 that way we could have fun together and she wouldn't feel left out. She told me "I already have a tractor" (John Deere LT 166) I have to remind her that's not a real tractor that's a lawn tractor.

From what the guy told me the Wisconsin 12 HP in the 1256 hydro runs it just needs the engine ignition repaired, and he said the Wisconsin engines in the  Bolens 1000 and the 1050 are good. All three are stuck they have been sitting for quite a while, he told me to pull the head and put some oil in the cylinder let them sit and then start gently working them to loosen them up, so we will see as I get time to work on them. For right now they are covered to keep the weather off of them. The oil in all of them looks good just dirty but no water contamination.

I love Wisconsin engines growing up they had a great reputation for being rugged and reliable engines. If you had a Wisconsin engine in your piece of equipment you had something of value. People would say "wow you have a Wisconsin engine in there that's great!"

I was thinking the same thing, some of the attachments will be for show and others will be for work, all the tractors will be redone so they look real nice but they will also be for work.

Once a year we have a celebration in our town, my plan is to bring the tractors up to the town common and display them for people to see them with the different attachments connected. It will be a fun time for both young and old alike, well let the kids sit on the tractors maybe they will catch the bug and get Bolens fever too and be future collectors of this great brand of tractor!

We will see how it go's.
