Who carries a starter rebuild kit for my SS12 Model #143-602022   Serial # 9352

Starter cranks sloooooow. Pulled off tractor and tested on bench and it spins like it should. Not quite sure if kit is required but running out of ideas...or could the regulator be the issue?

Delco Remy tag on starter  1101689 9F5

I will look here first and I have a USA shipping address.

I took my starter from the  (Roper 20T) to Joe's Starter & Generator Shop in Waco. He doesn't rebuild them, he re-manufactures them. I was real impressed with their work. Maybe there is a Shop close to you.

Is that a starter/generator?

If so, any starter/altenator/generator shop close to you could check it out and tell you what it needs.

Did you try basic troubleshooting.  Does it spin fast with the plug out?  did you try a known good battery?  All the grounds clean/tight?

Take it apart and see what it looks like inside?  They're not that hard to service but electric motor repair shops are getting pretty scarce.

Often you can get by with new brushes and cleaning the grooves out in the commutator.  Ebay lists a lot of Delco s/g parts, brushes, bushings, bearings, etc.

Grease the shaft bushings. Had a 90HP outboard with those symptoms. Took it apart cleaned everything and put some grease in the bushings. Cranked like a new one for 8 years until I sold the boat.
