When I got this last year the wheels were dished in. I guess the person who actually used this for work years ago had tight spaced rows of plants to cultivate, I personally never liked the look of it with the wheels spaced in so decided to move them back out to where they normally were when they were used.

Got one side done today hope to finish tomorrow

I agree, it looks better with them spaced out.  Also increase the stability of it too.

Curious, and this is probably a dumb question, but is the "Bolens" writing on the side of the gas tank something that was done at production? It looks like something a past owner did but seeing how early the machine is, sometimes manufactures did things like this way back then so I didn't want to necessarily jump to a conclusion.

I could picture it now, good 'ol "Jim" being the last guy on the assembly line and his job was to write the brand name on each and every machine before they hit the dealership. ;-)

Unfortunately when the previous owner painted the machine he also painted over the Bolens decal on the side of the tank, you can still see the decal behind the hand written "bolens"

well depending on what kind of paint he used, gas and a porous rag might take the paint off. i know sometimes some of the mowers i work on have that orange spot on them because they bought refurbed or used stuff from lowes or home depot, which i am sure is an enamel based paint and gas and a piece of sweat pant takes it off, sometimes have to scrub a little hard.

Looks way better dished out! What was the year of that one? Any luck locating cultivator shanks?
