to screw around with my Windows 10 program again. This blue box keeps popping up and I keep putting it off. Can anyone tell me what unnecessary things it wants to do?

The other day, one of the ones at work updated and lost its ability to share printers or files. Wanted a password ( Inever set up)every time you printed
Way down in the sub basement, hidden menu there was a check mark in a box for just that.
WHy the eff it changed THAT, I have zero idea.

Since you're on win 10, it may be that you'll eventually have to update to keep using it.
Good luck.

I stay on W7 and turned off all windows up dates.  Don't get any of that stuff any more.  Probably do the same with 10.

Can you give us a little more information please?

OS version #?

What is it asking for a password for?

Perhaps a screen shot of the blue box?

I'll have to wait for the next time it pops up. Do I just copy the http while it is on the screen?

The Print Screen button will copy the screen.  Save as .jpg and attach to your post.

Well, I guess I messed up. The blue window showed up and I clicked on prt sc. When I went to a new message and pasted, there was nothing.

The blue box simply gives three choices; install now, set a time or snooze.

Set a time in the future to upgrade...  Then do this:

Go into Windows Explorer..

Find the file:

C:/Windows/GWX and rename the GWX file to something like 'CrapIdon'twant' or something like that..  Reboot and you will never see that message again!!

Works great for me!!

This is for those of you who have Windows 10.

Windows Explorer has a new name

  1. Share
  2.
It's called File Explorer in Windows 10. Here are three ways to open it:
  • Select the Start Windows logo Start button button and find it on the Start menu.
  • Press the Windows logo key Windows logo Start button + E.
  • Select the folder icon on the taskbar.

Sounds it's wanting to update. Mine is set for updates at night when I'm not on it. I'm sloooooly getting the hang of W10. I had to uninstall & reinstall my printer. I just don't have time to sit long enough to get use to it. LD have you met Cortana yet. Lol

No, I don't need another woman to nag me.

The last time 10 updated me, it shuffled around my way of doing things and didn't give me anything useful.
