I planned to got to the Brooklyn Truck Show today but it rainned this morning. I took a ride to the transfer station and was given this.

I figured that this made it a good day. Does anyone recognize the bracket in the last pic? Good Luck, Rick

Is the bracket welded on? Looks homemade, to lift the discharge shield.

There was no more room for the dump 30 years ago but people had to have a place to get rid of waste. There is a group of rolloff containers to sort garabage, recycleables, bulky waste, metals, and tires. My town was smart, there is no charge but there are weekly limits on bulky waste(one truck load) and tires(6). We have ended up with alot less trash along our roads. Other towns charge for tires so, they get dumped along remote roads. Those towns spend alot to pick them up and dispose of them.

We also have a "swap shed". IF you have something that is still good, you can leave it in the swap shed. If you see something that you want there, you can take it. I've gotten tools that were new in the box there. In one case, the old man had died and the daughter had no interest in the 4 new air tools. Atleast she put them in the shed. Other jerks just throw good tools in the scrap metal.

In the case of the Simplicity, I got it from a house on the way home from the swap shed. I'm friends with the guys that work at the TS and they sometimes put things aside for me. I've picked up several  old engines in the past year. Good Luck, Rick

I'm a mile from a transfer station, but there's never anything like that! Here you pay $55 year, you get 2 stickers for vehicles and you can go to the main dump or any TS in the county.

falmouth mass has "pick of the litter" - used to have a building where you dropped off various stuff and other people walking thru could grab it - didn't move quite fast enough and missed out on an old style sawzall
