Good for parts then! I know you'll be able to make one good one out of these.

I removed the flywheel and stator since I know they work. Put the old flywheel back on so I can start a drive this thing. HGere's what it looks like with the hood back on.

The Right front wheel is not correct and rubs badly inside, but I can at least move it under it's own power.

That last pic looks like a demolition tractor from a county fair. Did you say you were going to make one of these your mower. I've been following threads that are doing what you are, salvaging some of these newer mowers. A lot of fun following.

I'm going to try. The Poulan had a 54" deck and the spindles are good on it. The Sears has a 48" deck, not sure about it yet. Gotta get the flywheel on it to see if it runs. The Sears is the better looking of the two, for sure.

I swapped the tractors around this morning using the FF/20 and boom pole. Had to add two of the suitcase weights to the front. Had to get the blow gun out and clean things up a bit. Made sure fins were clean along with the oil cooler. Put the stator and flywheel on, set the gaps with my 'official' gauge.

Closed it up.

Hooked a battery up and a temp fuel tank. It fired right up! Sounds real good, but needs a muffler. Went to check tranny and deck. If I let the clutch out it tries to die. Same with the PTO switch, so have something in the safeties messed up. Time to study the wiring schematic.

Looks like the solenoid is the issue. Tried to wire around, but no go.

Edit: I posted the wrong schematic pic yesterday. Got the right one now.

Can you steal the one from the Poulan?

I looked, doesn't have the relay. Don't think I have one on anything else.

I went and got a new solenoid. Plugged it in and everything works as it should! May not get too much more done on it today, my son is passing through on his way to Florida!

After my son left out, I put some Seafoam and gas in the tank of the GT3000. Let that set for an hour or so and drained it out. It looked about the same as what went in, so I hooked the tank back to the fuel system and put some gas in it. Stuck a battery in and got it out. Drove around some first, then put the mower to work.Does a good job mowing and is easy to steer around things. So I need to lube it all up and put more time on it. Both back tires and the left front have leaks, need to fix those, but I can put it to work. Here's what I mowed with it.

I am gluing part of the front grille back together with the E6000. It takes up to 72 hrs. to reach full strength, so I may not have the hood back on for a bit. Probably need to sharpen the blades too. But I'm happy with my 'cheap' mower.

I have messed with the Sears some and the hydro doesn't like to back up. A snail is faster! :wallbanging: The Poulan works better, less hours. Here a list of the Poulan cons.

1. Has 6" wheels on front instead of 8".

2. PTO clutch froze up.

3. Needs flywheel and stator.

4. Seat came unglued from the pan and is not good enough to use.

5. Hood is all bent up and no grille section.

So I think I will swap this Hydro into the Sears. If I find a flywheel and stator cheap, I may put this engine into the JD 265 I have out back with a blown 17 HP Kawasaki. That should make it a good mower!

Well, just talked to a REP of hydro-gear and these two hydros are not interchangeable. That sucks. They say most are brand specific!

So I have a great running mower that won't back up a foot in three hours!

So just go in circles!      :smilewink:  :smilewink:
I'll bet if you look at it more closely you might be able to make it work. I would think the only real difference would be mounting tabs?

Can you take a pic of both tractors from the back to see how different they are??
