The engine serial makes it a 2001-2 year model I believe.

I finally got the shroud off! I see nothing amiss here, but sounds like something is dragging when I spin by hand. Think I'll check the magnets.

Well my suppositions were correct! Flywheel magnets were loose. And BROKEN! Took out the stator too. Gonna need a stator and full set of magnets!

That may be a bit of a challenge. I don't think a 18hp Briggs stator will work or I could send you one. On a side note, I was thinking of an experiment of replacing the magnets with some of those super strong Neodymium Magnets to see if there could be a gain in amperage. Looks like you have an opportunity to try.

Here's the mass of magnets I dug out!

If anyone has parts or links to them, I would appreciate it.

I did notice this thing has a cast front axle on it! Has to be a well built unit at one time!

I sent Kohler a message to see if I can just buy the magnets for the flywheel. I hate having to pay the money they want for a flywheel when all I need are the magnets.

With the "Jo" spelling, it's probably younger sister

She's probably just as hard to work on and her parts are as expensive as her older brother.

What I am seeing so far is $200+ for the flywheel and stator.
