I downloaded a copy of the 1455 parts manual from our manuals section. Check it out.

Is your 1455 a 198-01 or 198-02?  The 01 had points well the 02 had solid state just FYI.

Is there an aftermarket ignition coil for my Wisconsin S14D w/breakerless ign?

Yes, there are cheap alternative coils that can be had from any autoparts store, but Id throw caution to the wind if you are having spark issues??

Found a coil but wiring diagram isn't clear on hook up.  Which wires go to which side of coil?  Diagram says ign wire to + side of coil.  Doesn't show which wire goes to negative side.

If its the points version, the lead from the points goes to the negative terminal on the coil.

If it is the electronic version, the ground goes to the key, or an add on kill switch to ground, and the hot (+) goes to the module.
